MEET Uptowncharlybrown Stud's MANAGEMENT TEAM:

Bob Hutt was born and raised in New York City.  He’s the proud CEO, President and founder of Uptowncharlybrown Stud LLC, a thoroughbred management company.  Bob wears many hats as he's also a producer in Back To The Future, The Musical the award winning “smash hit” show currently playing at the Winter Garden theater on Broadway; as well as across the pond in London’s West End at the Adelphi theatre; and, the touring company is coming this summer to a city near you. If that wasn't enough, Bob’s also the President of the PTHA (Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association) representing over 2,000 owners and trainers.  Bob’s owned, bred, and managed racehorses since 1985 as he's familiar with every aspect of the industry.

The breeding end of the team is headed by, Joerg Hoffmann, UTCB's Sr. Vice President.  Joerg manages 3 stallions, dozens of broodmares, and weanlings. Joerg is hands on and interacts on a daily basis with all of our racing partners.  You have questions, Joerg has answers. Not many partnerships other than UTCB Stud can boast that they’ve placed in the top 1% out of 25,000 Owners in the Equibase Standings for 7 consecutive years.  

UTCB is coming off a record smashing 2023 in which we set new records for wins and purse earnings.  

After his racing days ended, Uptowncharlybrown has risen to become Pennsylvania's #1 stallion with progeny earnings of over $8 million dollars.  For three decades, UTCB Stud has become family - where friends meet similar to the long running NBC sitcom CHEERS. On any given weekend you can find your fellow partner’s visiting the barn & backstretch watching our horses train.  You, your family & friends are always welcome to join us.   Barn 10 has become our social club where partners share a passion and love for our magnificent warriors.

At UTCB Stud we make owning a thoroughbred racehorse simple, fun, exciting; and most importantly, AFFORDABLE.  Where else for as little as $500 for a 1% interest can you enjoy all the privilege’s of FULL OWNERSHIP!  After enrollment the only other bill is $200 every 3 months (quarterly, not monthly) until your horse starts paying its own way.  

At UTCB Stud you don't have to spend like a millionaire to feel like one.  Visiting the barn, being on the backstretch talking to fellow owners, jockeys, and trainers, as well as being inside the paddock on race day is special.  When we win, you'll swear you're walking-on-air all the way into the Winner's Circle when that precious win photographer is snapped by the track Photograper.  

The one element in racing that forces new owners to leave the business almost as fast as they enter is always TRAINING EXPENSES.  Make no mistake, this is the Sport of Kings and for good reason.  The  cost to feed/care for a thoroughbred racehorse is $72,000 per year.

That’s never a problem when you're with UTCB Stud because you own a micro share in which expenses are low as you share the cost of training with your fellow partners .  UTCB Stud offers unmatched first class service with the best communication skills in the industry.  We send out near daily educational emails.  You’ll never read "the horse is racing, be there!"  Instead we teach, constantly field questions from our partners, and make the entire experience a fun exciting time for everyone. 

A huge difference between UTCB Stud and our competitors is we offer young unraced two-year old's where your upside is "the sky's the limit!  We race primarily at PARX, with side trips to Gulfstream, Saratoga, Aqueduct & Belmont, etc.  Everything is included in enrollment "soup to nuts" without any hidden surprises.  As a "Limited Partner" your personal assets are fully protected.  Some competitors require a financial statement before they'll even talk with you.  Not true at UTCB Stud!    

UTCB Stud is NOT a claiming stable. Instead we offer unraced two-year old’s in training. Owning a thoroughbred racehorse is exciting as you never know when you’re going to find that next special champion.  We’ve been blessed at UTCB Stud having owned multiple stake winners.  We don’t buy other people’s stake horses as some of our competitors often do as we prefer to develop our own.  

Our history includes purchasing an unraced R Betty Graybull for $60,000. All she did was win multiple stakes and earn nearly a half a million dollars.  We were blessed to buy an unraced 2YO colt in Uptowncharlybrown for $57,000.  He then took us on a magical carpet ride including the Grade I $1,000,000 Belmont Stakes. Since then we’ve bred multiple stakes winners, Wait For It $750,000; Midtowncharlybrown $500,000; Midnightcharly $400,000; graded stake winner Dixie Serenade $350,000; and, Oxana $350,000 just to name a few.

Today “Charly” as he’s affectionately known is an outstanding sire standing at Blackstone Farm where he’s become Pennsylvania’s unquestioned #1 stallion. He's set all sorts of breeding records in 2023 becoming only the second stallion ever in Pennsylvania history to earn over $200,000 in stallion awards in a single season.

In 2023 UTCB Stud earned $869,000 combined Stallion and Breeder awards smashing the previous record of $502,000.  Add to that we earned an additional million dollars in purse earnings from our racing partnerships.  We also own stallions Eastwood purchased for $850,000 as a 3 YO who finished 2023 in the top ten; and new for 2024 we’ve added the stallion Warrant a son of the red hot stallion Constitution.  Warrant is graded stake million dollar winner and multiple times graded stake placed.  

Pennsylvania is second to none as it has the best State-bred breeding & racing program in the land.  PA Bred’s race for  40% greater than the stated purse at PARX in open company  Since 1999, we’ve sold-out most offerings, mostly thru word of mouth.  Back in 1999 when it all began, it was just ten partners and one horse. We then won our first two races and have never looked back.  Today, UTCB Stud proudly boasts over 400 Limited Partners, more than 50 active racing and breeding partnerships,100 horses including 3 stallions, 20 broodmares, weanlings, yearlings, two-year old’s and older horses.   We do hope that you decide to join as with us, you're family!
